No more Amoxicillin for Izzy!
The Friday before Easter Daycare calls me & said "Izzy woke up from nap with lots of little sores". By the time I had gotten there to pick the girls up the "little sores" had multiplied. Took her home, they just kept coming so, we decided to take her to an ER (do not have Urgent Cares here in the country). Love the hospital in the country, people are so nice, so clean & so quick. The doctors stated that it looked like hives. Could not figure out what she had had that would cause them. She was on Amoxicillin for about 1 week (has been sick on & off since Daycare), she ate things that she has in the past & no changes in lotions, bath or laundry soap. The doctor was a little puzzled & said he had never seen such a bad case of hives before. His final diagnosis was allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin, it is called serum sickness since she had been on it for a week. He gave her some Benadryl & Presnisolone. She was 90% better the next day. It was pretty scary, she was so miserable & just wanted to itch like crazy. The one picture is of her in her hospital gown & jumping around on the bed at the hospital(by the way, she is not our quite one!) The other picture is of her back when we first got to the hospital & the hives were still popping out. Thank goodness she is fine & I am not sure this is the last of the hospital trips that we have in our future :0( Sunday, March 15, 2009
The weekend with the girls
On Saturday I took the girls on some errands while Marilyn worked. We ended up at the park to try out their new jump ropes. At one point Shelby was several feet away from us & Izzy just did not like that she was not close to her. When Shelby came back, Izzy ran up screeching at the top of her lungs with excitement & gave her a hug. I have never seen her do that before. Usually, she is bossing her around & pushing her into the Time out spot. It was so cute.
We're back!
So, it has been a while for us in the blogging world. I decided to join Facebook & have hooked up with a lot of old friends from school, my old neighborhood & from old jobs. It is really fun to catch up with people but, it has taken me away from blogging a bit. Since last blog, I have started working (last week) again in Ophthalmology. I have enjoyed meeting new people. The MD's are very nice & very welcoming. It is a little boring because I have a lot more knowledge about the field than most techs (which is not saying a lot. I have a lot more to learn) at this company that have been there for years (like some 20 years). So, I have to readjust from being slammed at work to a lot more relaxed at work. I guess it is part of living near the country?????? Because I got this job we needed a 2nd hand car to get by for a few months to a year or so. We ended up buying a used van. It is OK but, when you are used to buying new it is an adjustment also. The girls have been going to Preschool/Daycare starting in February & have enjoyed it so far. All 3 of them are learning so much. It is amazing every night it seems like they have learned something new. It is so exciting to pick them up at night & see them run to you or say no they want to stay at school. It makes us feel good that we picked the right people to take care of our girls when we are not with them. The Twinkies are getting used to being with other people too instead, of being attached to one of our hips all the time. They used to scream & get scared when others would come around, now they are better. We all got real sick with colds however, after the 1st week they were there. I felt like we were going to the doctors ever day there for a while. Shelby & Isabella got RSV it seemed to have lasted forever but, I think we are all on the mends now (knock on wood).
